We’re in the final days of the Kickstarter campaign with some amazing new contributors joining the team.
As reported in Comics Alliance last week, we’ve added:
Mike Allred (Madman)
Shannon Wheeler (Too Much Coffee Man)
Eric Drooker (Flood!)
Ryan Ottley (Invincible)
Dean Haspiel (American Splendor)
painter Guy Denning
David Lloyd (V For Vendetta, designer of the now iconic Guy Fawkes mask)
And as reported in Wired today, we’ve added:
Alan Moore (Watchmen, V For Vendetta, Batman: The Killing Joke, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, From Hell)
EPIC.

so, how can we help?

I have been working on the first Occupy comic since February of this year. The spark that began this movement was Wisconsin. They occupied the Capital and showed America that “The American Spring” should be a part of the awakening of the rest of the world. This fire spread to Wall Street, Toronto, London and now we are seeing a world wide revolution.
Although my comic might not be the best, I work hard and have been building a small but loyal audience. This inaugural year we have touched on worker’s rights, FOX News lies, the Presidential election, and police’s use of pepper spray. Next year I will be tackling Scott Walker’s recall, voter suppression and suicide of our service members.
If there is some editorial board to get my comic involved with this project, please let me know. I began earlier this year as a lone voice in comics, and I would love to be a part of a bigger community with a similar agenda.

Hi,
I’m photo editor of Lola, a Brazilian magazine, and I would like to run a note about the Ocupy Comics. For that I’ll need some arts in high res. Is it possible? Who can I talk with?

The Occupy movement wasn’t around in February. Just saying.

Then what happened in Wisconsin? They occupied the capitol because of income disparity. It might not have been called the Occupy Movement, but it sure as hell was where this movement began. Just Saying,

I’ve read articles about this Comic but I would like you know that the reason for the V mask is because it’s a symbol for Anonymous. While there are many that do recognize this, many did not before the occupy movement. People assumed the V mask was just a trade mark for the Occupy movement but that is just simply not the case.

Wow, well at least you guys have one female in your crew. Can I join so you can have 2 out of 8 instead of 1 in 7?
Jenny Gonzalez-Blitz
erm, have you looked through the entire site? There’s myself, Amanda Palmer, Molly Crabapple, Anna Wieszczyk, Susie Cagle, Zoetica Ebb, Laurie Penny…is it a perfectly even female to male ratio? No. But to say there’s only ONE? Which of the rest of us did you dismiss outright?
Hazel
OMG Amanda Palmer!!! YAY

I’ve been a part of Occupy Vancouver since the day of awesome, October 15, 2011, taking photos and drawing as much as possible. I’m trying to collect photos from other people when I have spare time from work and school. If you don’t need another artist, maybe you would like some photos/videos along with the personal (+ public/news) stories behind them?
What would be helpful for the artists/etc for the process/design/creation of this project?
I LOVE your project and am so pleased you decided to do this! (And Alan Moore, and so many other artists I love! DROOL. I cannot wait to see the incredible culmination of this massive artistic project. It will no doubt be spectacular!)
Btw, I am not a comic artist but I make linocuts and woodblock prints that are very graphic, I am just graduating from an Art and Design School in Vancouver, Canada and have exhibited a few times, so I know my stuff and have been doing this for a few years. I may be able to submit a few pages if necessary (and if wanted – I can send you a few pics soon if you like). Just in case you might need another artist to submit stuff, although this is doubtful lol. Best of luck to you all!

Occupy Art: A Manifesto, A Statement

Hi, I just finished this. Among other things, I do a comic strip SURREAL THEATRE. Keep up the good work…..

I have just posted a short comic story entitled OCCUPY MIND STREET with art by Ben Leung which explores the movement and some various ways that people numb themselves to reality. It can be viewed at: http://jamesdavidge.posterous.com/occupy-mind-street
In the autumn of 2012, Occupy Mind Street will be released as part of MY MODERN PANIC, a collection of my short comic and prose stories that address various issues of social and environmental concern. As well, we would be very happy to have Occupy Mind Street be part of Occupy Comics in any capacity.
